Sunset
Magazine

There are only a few publications that I spent my childhood years poring over, cutting out photos printed on glossy paper, and analyzing every beautifully wrought sentence.

Sunset Magazine was one of them, and I have the fondest memories of flipping through the issues that had been marked with my grandmother’s, mom’s, and aunt’s initials once they’d made the rounds through our family.

Sunset Magazine is a lifestyle publication that has defined the industry since 1898. I’ve always been a huge admirer of their work, so when I was approached by Jonathan Simkins, Editor and Content Producer for Sunset’s WildLands column to write featured articles, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

Introduction

"Someone who I grew to trust from the start to the end of this project"

"Over the course of approximately a decade between newsrooms and editorial offices, I've come to realize just how liberally labels like 'writer' are thrown around. Hannah, on the other hand, is an indisputable and refreshing exception, embodying at every turn what it means to be a genuine wordsmith with an indefatigable zest to portray the environments in which she so readily immerses.

It is a rare treat that working alongside someone elicits significant returns of writing and editing improvements, but such has been the case during each collaboration with Hannah."

– Jon Simkins,
Editor

This is a space where ideas meet action, concepts become concrete, and the intangible becomes rooted in a reality that you’ve spent your career building.
